oxford Idioms and Phrasal verbs (71-80)
نگاهی انداختن به کتاب، کتاب را ورق زدن و دیدن بدون خواندن آن.
Definition: look through sth quickly, without reading it.
Ex: I flicked through his new book.
کتاب جدیدش رو نگاهی انداختم.
تمرین 1: من کتاب رو برداشتم و نگاهی انداختم.
خواندن بخشهایی از یک کتاب،مقاله و ... در زمان ورق زدن آن. مرور کردن
Definition: look at the pages of sth, reading it only in part
Ex: I looked through your report yesterday.
بخشهایی از گزارش شما را خواندم.
تمرین 2 : او یاداشت هایش را قبل از امتحان مرور کرد.
سرتا سر چیزی را خواب بودن با وجود سرو صدا
Definition: continue sleeping while there is a lot of noise around you.
Ex: I managed to sleep through the storm.
.تونستم سرتا سر طوفان رو بخوابم
تمرین3 : اون نوزاد، تمام شب رو با آرامش خوابید.
پس بردن
Definition: to take something you have bought back to a shop because it is not suitable.
Ex: the radio was faulty so I took it back.
رادیو خراب بود برا همین اون رو پس بردم.
تمرین 4 : اگه تی شرت اندازه نیست پس اش بده.
پس دادن
Definition: to give something to the person it belongs to or the person who gave it to you
Ex: she took her car key by mistake, but gave it back this morning.
او سوییچ ماشینش رو اشتباها برداشته بود اما امروز صبح اون رو پس داد.
تمرین 5 : قطعا شما می تونید یه نگاهی بهش بندازید تا وقتی که اون رو پس می دید.
در جای خود قرار دادن چیزی.
Definition: to return something to its usual place or to the place where it was before it was moved
Ex: If you use something, put it back.
اگه از چیزی استفاده می کنی اون رو سر جای خودش بگذار.
تمرین 6 : او چند صفحه از کتاب رو خوند بعد توی قفسه گذاشتش سر جای خودش.
پس آوردن – برگرداندن
Definition: return to this place with sth that you have taken or borrowed/ return sb to a place, usually by car.
Ex: I will go there by bus and Jim can bring me back.
با اتوبوس میرم اونجا و جیم میتونه منو برگردونه.
تمرین 7: وقتی کارت با کتابها تموم شد، لطفا برشون گردون.
پس فرستادن
Definition: return sth by post, messenger, waiter, etc.
Ex: the books were damaged so I sent them back.
کتاب ها آسیب دیده بودند منم اونا رو پس فرستادم.
تمرین 8 : پیراهن ها اون چیزی که من سفارش داده بودم نبودند خوب منم اونا رو پس فرستادم.
تماس مجدد گرفتن
Definition: return sb's phone call. SNY ring back.
Ex: he rang at 2.00. I said I'd phone him back later.
او ساعت 2 تماس گرفت من به او گفتم خودم بعدا تماس خواهم گرفت.
تمرین 9 : امروز صبح که او تماس گرفته بود من بیرون بودم. با او تماس خواهم گرفت.
باز گرداندن پول/ باز پرداخت کردن
Definition: return to sb the money that you borrowed from them.
Ex: dad lent me the money. But I've paid him back.
پدر پول رو به من قرض داد اما من پولش رو بهش برگردوندم. ( قرضم و پرداختم)
تمرین 10: او هر شاهی را که به تو بدهکار است پس خواهد داد.
پاسخ تمارین
1- I picked up the book and flicked through.
2- She looked through her notes before the exam.
3- The baby slept peacefully through the night.
4- If the shirt doesn’t fit, take it back.
5- Of course you can have a look at it, as long as you give it back.
6- she read a few pages then put the book back on the shelf.
7- when you have finished with the books, pleased bring them back.
8- the shirts were not the ones I ordered, so I sent them back.
9- I was out when he called me this morning .so I'll phone him back.
10- he will pay back every cent he owes you.
